Immigration Reform and Control Act
The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) legally mandates that U.S. employers verify the employment eligibility status of newly-hired employees by completing Federal Form I-9. On October 30, 2004, the President signed legislation into law (Public Law 108- 390) authorizing employers to retain Forms I-9 in electronic format.
