Opening the Agreement

I received an email with an attachment to an agreement but I cannot click on anything.
Some email clients will strip emails of any links for security purposes. Please contact Recombo support to be sent a usable link.

I clicked on the attachment link in the email but my internet browser displays a blank grey/black page.
Please ensure that the browser you are using has the Adobe Flash player installed; click here to download Flash player. Once installed please close the browser and then click on the link that was sent to you to launch the agreement again.

Signing the Agreement

I clicked on the link in an email that I received, and my internet browser opened to a page that shows an Agreement Express agreement. What do I do now?

  • If you aren’t already registered, you will need to create an account with Agreement Express. Click on the link that was sent to you and answer the questions from the authentication window.
  • If you are already registered, then all that is required is for you to read the agreement and then click on SIGN HERE, or INITIAL HERE colored boxes, enter your password where prompted, and click ACCEPT.

Once you have signed where needed, click FINISH & SEND and you’re done.

I haven’t received an AGREEMENT EXPRESS password. How do I sign up for one?
You need to register. On the agreement, click on the signature field “Sign Here” and follow the instructions in the “Register Now” balloon.  Click on the “Register” button to create your own password. You will be able to use this password for any future Agreement Express agreements sent to you.

I've signed the agreement, but now I can't make any changes. Why?
Once an agreement has been signed, AGREEMENT EXPRESS locks the agreement so that it cannot be modified in order to comply with Electronic Signature laws.

I've signed the agreement, but the other people haven't. What do I do next?
Wait.  If there are others that need to sign the agreement, you will only be notified when the agreement has been signed by all.  All signatories will be emailed an “Agreement Completed” notification with a link to the fully signed agreement (for viewing, saving and printing copies for their records).

I'm not the person who is supposed to sign the agreement that I received.  How can someone else sign it instead?
Generally, if you are sent an agreement that you cannot sign, you should contact the sender and redirect them to the correct email address of the person that should sign the agreement.  The one exception to this rule (an administrative role signature) must be implemented by the publisher of your agreement, who will likely have informed you of this option.

I clicked on my email address and received the message “cannot sign for another person”.
Please open the agreement through the attachment link sent to your email. To stop others from signing in your place, each signer is sent a link that will only them sign as their self.

I’m trying to sign but keep receiving the message “another user has signed in the meantime”.
Please re-open the agreement. Another user has signed since you opened the agreement so the system is stopping you from signing an older version of the agreement.

My Password

How do I create my Agreement Express password?
Once you have received an Agreement Express agreement to sign, the easiest way to setup a password is to click on the area that asks you to “Sign Here”.  

• Click on the REGISTER button.
• You will be asked to provide your name and password.
• You will also be asked to choose a personalized security question to assist you if you ever forget your password.

How do I change my Agreement Express password and/or security question?
- If you are an Administrator or Company Administrator in the Agreement Express system, you can log into Agreement Express Agreement Manager and use the “Manage” > “Options” menu to change your Agreement Express password and/or security question.

- If you are not an Administrator, you must contact one of your Company Administrators or Recombo Support at www.recombo.com/support to reset your password.

Does my password ever expire?
No. Passwords within Agreement Express do not expire.  However, they can be changed at anytime.  See above for further details on changing your password.

I have forgotten my password.  Is there a way to have Agreement Express remind me what it was?
Yes. On the login panel, enter in your email address and click on “Forgot Password.”
You will be asked the security question you chose when you registered.
• Answer the question.
• Click OK
• If the answer is correct, you will be emailed your password.

What if I have also forgotten the answer to my Security Question?

What are the requirements for an Agreement Express password?
Agreement Express passwords must:

• Be no less than 6 characters long and no more than 20.
• Can be made up of alphabetic characters a-z, A-Z and digits 0-9.
• Contain at least one numeric digit, but cannot start with a numeric digit.

Legal Questions

Are electronic signatures legal?
Yes. In 2000, the USA signed the ESIGN Act making electronic signatures legal throughout the United States. The United Nations has also set an outline for its members on which to base similar legislation.  Many countries have already created legislation to ensure that Electronic Signatures have the same legal authority as “ink” based signatures.

Key points of legal electronic signatures include:
1. Knowing who the parties are when they sign;
2. Having those parties agree to use electronic signatures and show they are technically capable of signing electronically;
3. Ensuring that each party who signs receives a copy of the electronically signed agreements (including the ability to re-verify those signatures electronically); and
4. Ensuring that a forged or tampered electronic agreement can be detected.

Are electronic signatures proof of the person signing the agreement?
Yes. The laws related to Electronic Signatures have more stringent requirements than ink- based signatures. 

Electronic Signatures require 4 main steps:
1. Knowing who the parties are when they sign;
2. Having those parties agree to use electronic signatures and show they are technically capable of signing electronically;
3. Ensuring that each party who signs receives a copy of the electronically signed agreements (including the ability to re-verify those signatures electronically); and
4. Ensuring that a forged or tampered electronic agreement can be detected.

The level of security in an electronic form is much higher than paper just by the nature of the media.  For a paper agreement you have a pen and a piece of paper; with an electronic agreement you have to have access to the signatory’s email account,  the password for the person’s registered Electronic Signature, and access to the agreement to be signed.

How do I know that my electronic signature has not been stolen electronically?
 The only way your Electronic Signature could be stolen would be if you were to give the thief access to your email account and the password to your Agreement Express signature authentication.  NEVER give your Agreement Express password to anyone.  It is a legal signature.

General Questions

Can I use my Agreement Express account for transactions with other companies that use Agreement Express?
Yes!  Your Agreement Express ID is your email address, and once you choose your password and security question, you are set to use Agreement Express with anyone who uses that email address to send you an online agreement.

Where do I go to see the Agreements that I have signed?
The agreements you have signed are always available from the link sent to you in the “Agreement Express Agreement Completed” email sent to you after signing.  If you are a Agreement Express Administrator – you can log into Agreement Express Agreement Manager and see all the agreements you have signed and/or published.

I misplaced the completion email stating that I signed an Agreement.  Whom should I contact to have the email re-sent?

You should contact the person who sent you the agreement in the first place and ask them to send you a copy of your agreement.

Can an agreement be forwarded to someone else for signing?
As a general rule, no. Only agreements specifically designated to allow alternate signatures may be forwarded to someone else for signing.

How do I forward the agreement to you now that I've signed it?
Once the agreement has been signed, an email notification will go out informing all parties involved that the agreement has been signed, providing a link to the signed version of the agreement.  There is no need to forward anything after signing the agreement.
